1. Netaji Statue in Delhi

Why in news - Arun Yogiraj would create the statue of Subhas Chandra Bose to be installed at India Gate.

Key Points –

• A 30-foot statue of Bose is to be placed behind the erstwhile Amar Jawan Jyoti at India Gate.

• Yogiraj sculpted the 12-foot statue of Adi Shankaracharya at Kedarnath.

2. Community Forest Resources Rights (CFRR)

Why in news - Chhattisgarh became the 2nd state in the country (1st - Odisha) to recognize community forest rights inside a national park area.

Key Points –

• The CFR rights of tribals living inside the Kanger Ghati National Park were recognized.

• CFRR is recognized under Section 3(1)(i) of Forest Rights Act 2006.

3. India Post delivers mail using drone

Why in news - For the first time, the postal department delivered a parcel through a drone in the Kutch district of Gujarat.

Key Points –

• The drone covered 46 km in 25 minutes.

• It was sent from Habay village in Bhuj taluka to Ner village in Bhachau taluka of Kutch district.

INTERNATIONAL:

1. EU bans import of Russian Oil

Why in news - The European Union agreed to ban 90% of Russian oil imports over the next six months.

Key Points –

• Europe relies on Russia for 25% of its oil and 40% of its natural gas.

• Hungary was exempted from the ban.

2. Israel - UAE Free Trade Deal

Why in news - Israel and the United Arab Emirates signed a free trade agreement (FTA) on 31st May 2022.

Key Points –

• It was Israel’s 1st FTA with an Arab country.

• Through Abraham Accord (2020), Israel and the United Arab Emirates normalized relations.

• Egypt, Jordan, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, Sudan and Morocco recognize Irael.

GOVERNMENT SCHEMES:

1. Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP)

Why in news – PMEGP has been extended for another 5 years until FY26.

Key Points –

• Outlay for 5 years – Rs 13,554.42 crores.

• It was launched in 2008 to provide employment through micro-enterprises in rural as well as urban areas.

• Under Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises.

• Implementing Agency - Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC).

2. Har Ghar Dastak 2.0

Why in news - The 2-month long 'Har Ghar Dastak 2.0' campaign launched from 1st June 2022 (till - 31st July 2022).

Key Points –

• To vaccinate children aged 12-18 years against Covid.

• UNICEF is supporting Health Ministry in this campaign.

• Har GharDastak 1.0 was launched on 3rd Nov 2021.

1. Param Ananta

Why in news - Government has deployed an indigenously developed Param Ananta supercomputer at IIT Gandhinagar.

Key Points –

• Speed - 838 teraflops. It can process 838 lakh crore calculations per second.

• The top supercomputer 210 AI PetaFlops Param Siddhi (6.5 petaflops) has been deployed at CDAC, Pune.

Why in news – 1st June is marked to recognize milk as global food and to celebrate the dairy industry.

Key Points –

• FAO adopted 1st June as World Milk Day in 2001.

• The theme is to draw the world’s attention to the climate change crisis and highlight how the dairy industry could minimalize its impact on the planet.

• Focus - ‘Dairy Net Zero’ over the next 30 years.

Why in news – US built ‘Frontier’ supercomputer is now the fastest in the world, overtaking Japan’s Fugaku (442 PetaFlops).

Key Points –

About Frontier:

• Speed - 1.102 ExaFlops.

• It also ranks as the fastest AI system in the world.

• It is also the most power efficient supercomputer in the world.

• It was built by HPE and installed in the Oak Rigde National laboratory in Tennessee.

• Intel is building Aurora supercomputer (upto 2 ExaFlops).

2. Forbes 30 Under 30 Asia List 2022

Why in news – Forbes magazine has released the 7th edition featuring 10 categories each honouring 30 individuals under the age of 30.

Key Points –

• The list was edited by Rana Wehbe Watson.

• Most entries - India (61), Singapore (34), Japan (33), Australia (32), Indonesia (30) and China (28).

• The youngest honouree is 14-year-old Japanese Olympics skateboarding gold-medalist Momiji Nishiya. (average age - 26.8).

BIHAR:

1. Milk Consumption in Bihar

Why in news – The per capita per day consumption of milk is 251 grams only. (National - 406 grams).

Key Points –

• 24 lakh liters of milk are being collected and 3,15,00,000 kg of milk is being produced in the state every day.

• There are 26,200 dairy cooperative societies functioning in the state with which 13,05,000 cattle farmers are connected.

• Government provide 50% subsidy on the purchase of 2-5 cows.

2. PM Awas Yojana (PMAY)

Why in news – According to Giriraj Singh people of Bihar have got the maximum benefit of PMAY

Key Points –

• 53.49 lakh people of Bihar got the benefit of PMAY.

• Sonali Kumari would be made the brand ambassador of Ayushman Bharat health scheme in Patna district.

3.New Ring Road in Bihar

Why in news – The Center covernment has accepted the proposal to build a ring road in four districts of Bihar.

Key Points –

• Ring road would be built in Darbhanga and Muzaffarpur.

• Central government team would come to decide the alignment for ring road in Gaya and Bhagalpur.

• 12 State Highway in Bihar would be declared National Highway.

• Multilayer Junction would be constructed in Pahari, Patna.

4. Ganges channel for beautification of ghats

Why in news – Ganges channel and walkway would be made from Digha to AN Sinha Institute on the banks of Ganga in Patna.

Key Points –

• Length – 6 km.

• The Ganga Expressway (20.5 km) is being built at a cost of Rs 3831 crore. To be completed by 2024.

Why in news – According to NFHS-5, sex ratio in Bihar increased from 1062 (NFHS-4) to 1090.
