1. India – Kenya Relation

Why in news - Kenyan President’s Three-Day State Visit to India.

Key Points:

• Kenyan President William Samoei Ruto recently embarked on a three-day state visit to India, emphasizing the enduring friendship between the two nations dating back to 1948.

• During a joint press meet with Prime Minister Modi, it was announced that India would provide a line of credit of USD 250 million to Kenya for modernizing its agricultural sector.

About Kenya:

• Kenya is located in East Africa. Its terrain rises from a low coastal plain on the Indian Ocean to mountains and plateaus at its Centre.

• Kenya's location between the Indian Ocean and Lake Victoria.

• Scientists think Northern Kenya and Tanzania may have been the original birthplace of humans.

• UN-Habitat maintains its headquarters at the United Nations Office at Nairobi, Kenya.

2. Operation ‘NanheFaristey’

Why in news- During November 2023, Railway Protection Force (RPF) reunited over 520 children under Operation ‘NanheFaristey’

About RPF:

• It was launched on Indian Railways, and under this drive, Children in need of care & protection who came into contact with Indian Railways were rescued and handed over to concerned authorities before being restored to their families.

• It was declared a statutory force in 1957 by an enactment of Parliament and subsequently declared as an armed force of the Union of India in the year 1985.

INTERNATIONAL:

1. World Radio Communication Conference 2023

Why in news - World Radio communication Conference 2023 appoints UAE's Mohammed Al Ramsi as Chairman.

Key Points -

• The event is being held in Dubai, UAE, from November 20th to December 15th, 2023.

• WRC is organised by International Telecommunication Union (ITU) every four years to revise the global use of radio-frequency spectrum, geostationary-satellite and non-geostationary-satellite orbits.

• This year, more than 4,000 government officials and 900 international organisations from 193 countries are attending the conference.

2. Taliban

Why in news - China becomes first country to accord diplomatic status to Taliban official Bilal Karimi.

Key Points:

• China has become the first country to accord diplomatic status to a Taliban nominated official, Bilal Karimi, as Afghanistan's Ambassador to Beijing.

• In this manner, it has formally recognised the legitimacy of the Taliban-run government in Kabul

• China along with Pakistan and Russia has maintained its embassy in Kabul after the Taliban takeover in August 2021 following the withdrawal of American troops from the war-ravaged country.

1. Mahaparinirvan Diwas (06th December)

Why in news - Mahaparinirvan Diwas is observed on the 6th of December every year to mark the death anniversary of Dr BR Ambedkar.

Key Points - 

• Dr BR Ambedkar was the chief architect of the Constitution of India.

• In Buddhism, ‘parinirvana’ which means nirvana-after-death occurs upon the death of someone who has attained nirvana during their lifetime.

About Dr BR Ambedkar:

• He was born on April 14, 1891 in Mhow, Madhya Pradesh.

• In 1924, he started an Association for the welfare of the depressed classes and in 1927; he started the Bahishkrit Bharat newspaper to address the cause of the depressed classes.

• In 1947, Dr. Ambedkar became Minister of Law in the first Cabinet of independent India.

• He was the Chairman of Drafting Committee and remembered as the Father of the Indian Constitution.

2. Honey Bee Day (05th December)

Why in news - Nagaland Marks 5th Honey Bee Day Celebrating Apicultural Tradition

Key Points -

• The 5th Nagaland Honey Bee Day was celebrated under the theme- 'Bee & Honey Trials' at Naga Heritage Village, Kisama.

• Nagaland currently has over one lakh beekeepers. The NBHM has also added about 25,000 more with proper guidance for beekeeping covering about 500 villages.

• The total honey production in the state stands at 440 Metric Tonnes per annum

1. Gram Manchitra

Why in news - Ministry of Panchayati Raj launched Geographic Information System application “Gram Manchitra” to encourage the Spatial Planning by the Gram Panchayat.

Key points -

• Gram Panchayat, Ministry of Panchayati Raj had launched the Geographic Information System (GIS) application “Gram Manchitra”.

• This application facilitates and supports Gram Panchayats to perform planning at Gram Panchayat level using geo-spatial technology.

• Ministry has launched mActionSoft, a mobile based solution to help in capturing photos with Geo-Tags.

2. Promote Alternative Fuel & Biofuel

Why in news - The Govt is committed to promote alternative fuel & biofuel.

Key points -

• The government is committed to promote alternative fuel and biofuel and it has taken several measures in this direction.

• The Ethanol pumps are being set up in the country and e -vehicle and hydrogen vehicles are being promoted.

• The construction machine powered by hydrogen by JCB has also been started.

1. Double Humped Camels

Why in news - The Army recently deployed double humped camels for logistical support to the troops in eastern Ladakh.

Key Points - 

• Double Humped Camels or Bactrian camels, have two humps on their backs where they store fat.

• Scientific Name: Camelus bactrianus

• They are native to the harsh and arid regions of Central Asia.

• IUCN Red List: Critically Endangered

1. CV-22B Osprey Aircraft

Why in news - US and Japanese divers recently discovered the wreckage and remains of crew members from a crashed US Air Force CV-22B Osprey aircraft off southwestern Japan.

Key points -

• It was developed to fulfill the needs of the U.S. Marine Corps, U.S. Air Force and U.S. Navy operational requirements worldwide.

• It is built by Boeing, an American aerospace company.

BIHAR:

1. Bihar Electric Vehicle (EV) Policy 2023

Why in news - The Bihar cabinet approved the state electric vehicle (EV) policy 2023.

Key Points -

• The policy, for a period of five years, aspires to see 15% of all new vehicles registered in Bihar by 2028 being electric vehicles

• The EV policy introduces various measures, including subsidies on Motor Vehicle Tax of up to 75% and purchase incentives of up to ?1.25 lakh for the first 1,000 personal four-wheeler EVs.

• The policy also promotes the use of renewable energy for EV charging stations, with approved tariff rates for high tension EV charging stations set at Rs 8/KvA for the fiscal year 2023-24.
