Why in news – USS Gerald R Ford carrier strike group arrived to assist Israel.

Key Points –

• It is the United States Navy’s newest and most advanced aircraft carrier yet.

• It is named after former US President Gerald R Ford (1974-77).

1. Psyche Mission

Why in news – NASA's Psyche mission to the asteroid Psyche is set to launch on October 12.

Key Points –

• To be launched – SpaceX (Falcon Heavy rocket).

• Psyche is both the name for the mission and the asteroid that it plans to visit.

• It is only the 16th asteroid to ever have been discovered.

• It is believed made of metal from the core of a planetesimal (building blocks of a planetary system).

• Psyche was discovered by Italian astronomer Annibale de Gasparis in 1852.

Why in news – India has been elected as President of AIBD GC for the 3rd successive term.

1. Sabji Vikas Yojana

Why in news – Online applications have been invited for the distribution of expensive vegetable seeds.

Key Points –

• Target - All districts of Patna, Magadha and Tirhut divisions.

• Covered vegetables - Broccoli, Color Capsicum, Seedless Cucumber and Seedless Brinjal.

• Subsidy - up to 75% subsidy. i.e., If the cost of a vegetable is Rs 10, then 75% of it i.e., Rs 7.50 per piece will be given by the government.

• Benefits under this scheme will be given only to the farmers of Bihar state.
