Why in news - PM Modi unveiled the logo, theme and website of India’s G20 presidency.

Key Points –

• Logo — Earth juxtaposed with the lotus.

• Theme — “Vasudhaiva Kutumba-kam” or “One Earth One Family One Future”.

• 7 petals of the lotus in the logo represent 7 continents.

• India will assume the G20 presidency from the current chair Indonesia on December 1, 2022.

2. Fodder-Centric FPOs

Why in news - Government moves to set up fodder-centric farmer producer organizations (FPOs).

Key Points –

• It was proposed by Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying in 2020 to address the fodder deficit.

• National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) is designated as the implementing agency.

• Target - 100 such FPOs in 2022-23.

• WPI based fodder inflation soared to a 9-year high of 25.5% in August 2022.

1. Mission ‘Prarambh’

Why in news - India’s first privately developed launch vehicle to make its maiden flight between Nov 12 and 16.

Key Points –

• Vehicle name - Vikram-S.

• Developed by Hyderabad-based Skyroot (1st private company to launch rocket).

• It can carry between 290 kg and 560 kg payloads to sun-synchronous polar orbits.

Why in news - UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres warned private corporations of zero tolerance for greenwashing.

A. Unverifiable or misleading claims to mark all kinds of activities as climate-friendly leading to emissions reduction.

B. Exaggerate the actions taken to help the fight against climate change.

• E.g., Volkswagen scandal - Cheating in emissions testing of its supposedly green diesel vehicles.

Why in news - CSIR¬-NGRI to install early warning system against floods, rockslides and avalanches in Himalayan States.

1. Mother Tongue Survey of India (MTSI)

Why in news – Ministry of Home Affairs has completed MTSI of the country’s 576 languages.

Key Points –

• Most spoken – Hindi (43.6%) > Bengali (8%)

• NIC and the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC) would preserve the linguistic data of the surveyed mother tongues.

• 19,500 languages or dialects are spoken in India as mother tongues.

Why in news – India is set to become the world’s third-largest economy and stock market by 2030.

• GDP likely to cross US$ 7.5 trillion by 2031.
