1. India’s Largest Floating Solar Power Project

Why in news - Tata Power Solar Systems Limited (subsidiary of Tata Power) has commissioned India’s largest floating solar power project in Kerala.

Key Points –

• Location - Kayamkulam, Kerala, Spread on a 350-acre water body,

• Installed capacity - 101.6 Megawatt Peak.

• This project is the first one in the Floating Solar Photovoltaic (FSPV) through Power Purchase Agreement category.

INTERNATIONAL:

1. Iskander-M Missile System

Why in news - Russia announced to deliver Iskander-M missile system capable of carrying nuclear warheads to Belarus (Belarus President - Aleksander Lukashenko).

Key Points –

About Iskander-M Missiles –

• NATO’s name – ‘SS-26 Stone’. It replaced the Soviet ‘Scud’.

• Inducted in 2006, Range - 400-500 km.

2. Commonwealth Diplomatic Academy Programme

Why in news – EAM S Jaishankar and his UK Foreign Secretary Liz Truss announced establishment of the new academy to train young and aspiring diplomats from both nations.

Key Points –

• Both leaders announced the initiative at the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in Kigali Rawanda.

• This Academy event will be held in New Delhi.

1. 2022 UN Ocean Conference

Why in news - United Nations Ocean Conference is set to take place in Lisbon, Portugal from June 27-July 1, 2022.

Key Points –

• Co-hosted by Kenya and Portugal.

• Theme – ‘Scaling up ocean action based on science and innovation for the implementation of goal 14: stocktaking, partnerships and solutions’.

• From India, Minister of Earth Sciences, Dr Jitendra Singh attended the conference.

• Secretary-General of the Conference - Liu Zhenmin.

• Special Envoy for the Ocean - Peter Thomson (Fiji).

• The United Nations has designated June 8 as World Oceans Day.

1. World MSME Day

Why in news - Micro, Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (MSMEs) Day is observed every year on June 27.

Key Points –

• Theme 2022 – ‘Resilience and Rebuilding: MSMEs for Sustainable Development’.

• As per the UN, the formal and informal MSMEs account for 70% of the total employment and 50% of the GDP.

Why in news - Odisha Capital Region Urban Transport’s Mo Bus has won the prestigious UN Public Service Awards for 2022. It has been recognised for its role in ‘promoting gender-responsive public services to achieve the SDGs’.

Why in news - S M Krishna, N R Narayana Murthy and Prakash Padukone have been selected for the ‘Kempegowda International Award’.

1. NASA rocket launched from Australia

Why in news - NASA successfully launched a commercial rocket from Australia’s Arnhem Space Center on the Dhupuma Plateau (a remote Northern Territory) for the first time.

Key Points –

• It became NASA’s first commercial spaceport launch outside the United States.

• Mission - to investigate the Alpha Centauri A and B constellations.

• The Alpha Centauri can only be seen from the Southern Hemisphere.

• NASA has earlier launched a rocket from Australia in 1995.

1. Tactical Leadership Programme, Egypt

Why in news - The Indian Air Force would participate in a month-long (Jun 24 to Jul 24) tactical leadership programme in Egypt with three Su-30 MKI jets and two C-17 transport aircraft.

1. Leonardo Del Vecchio

Why in news - Eyeglasses Ray-Ban founder Leonardo Del Vecchio, has died aged 87.

BIHAR:

1. National MSME Award 2022

Why in news - Bihar bagged the second award in the National MSME Award 2022 for outstanding contributions to the promotion and development of MSME sector.

Key Points –

• Out of the total Rs 36,000 crore investment received in the last 1.5 years in Bihar, the bulk of it came for the MSME sector.

• Under Mukhyamantri Udyami Yojna (MUY), 16,000 beneficiaries were given Rs10 lakh in financial assistance in FY 2021-22 and 4,000 MSME units have started commercialization.

• Budget allocation to MSMEs - Rs 120.70 crore (2019-20) to Rs 809.80 crore (2021-22).

• During the period 2019-2022, 305 clusters have been identified, out of which 197 clusters (roughly 64.59%) are completely ready.

• Odisha and Haryana received the first and third prizes.

2. Dampati Sampark Pakhwara

Why in news – The fortnight campaign would run from June27 to July 10, 2022.

Key Points –

• World Population Stability (Vishwa jansankhya sthirta pakhwara) fortnight would run from July 11 to31.

3. Export and Import of Fishes

Why in news – Dy CM cum Animal Husbandry and Fisheries Minister Tarkishore Prasad said efforts are being made for self-reliance in fish production.

Key Points –

• Fish import in 2021-22 – 67,000 metric tonnes (Rs 877 crores).

• Fish export in 2021-22 – 35,000 metric tonnes (Rs 783 crore).

• Fish production target (2021-22) - 8.02 lakh metric tonnes (till date produced 7.61 lakh metric tonnes).

• The production of Pangaceous fish is being promoted in the state.

4. Prime Minister's National Dialysis Program

Why in news – Bihar government is providing free dialysis facility to the economically weaker patients suffering from kidney disease.

Key Points –

• Free dialysis facility provided to 2208 kidney patients (total – 1,00,002 times free dialysis) from Dec 2020 to Mar 31, 2022.

• The facility is currently available in 35 districts.

• At present 175 dialysis machines are functional.

• Highest number of dialysis - Sadar Hospital Muzaffarpur (152 patients). Sadar Hospital, Sheikhpura - Dialysis of 12 patients.

• As per Health Department, PM National Dialysis Program was started in December 2020.
