Why in news - India launched the country’s first homegrown COVID-19 vaccine Anocovax for animals.

Key Points –

• Developed by Haryana-based ICAR-National Research Centre on Equines (NRC).

• It is an inactivated SARS-CoV-2 Delta (COVID-19) vaccine.

• ‘CAN-CoV-2 ELISA kit’ - For antibody detection against SARS-CoV-2 in canines.

1. Summit of Americas

Why in news – A meeting of countries of North and South America held at Los Angeles, USA.

Key Points –

• Los Angeles Declaration – To incentivise countries for taking in large numbers of migrants and spreading responsibility across the region.

• Cuba, Venezuela and Nicaragua were not invited.

• Mexican President skipped the summit in protest.

2. Fair Repair Act

Why in news - New York state legislature has passed the ‘right to repair’ bill called ‘Fair Repair Act’.

Key Points –

• It required digital electronics manufacturers to make parts, tools and software available to consumers and independent repair shops.

Why in news - Nirmala Sitharaman launched EASE 5.0 'Common reforms agenda' for PSBs on June 8, 2022.

Why in news - UN SDSN has released the Sustainable Development Report 2022.

2. World Investment Report 2022

Why in news - The United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) has released its annual report.

Key Points –

• India’s rank – 7th (30% decline in FDI, 2020 - $64 billion, 2021 - $45 billion).

• Top 3 - United States ($367 billion), China ($181 billion) and Hong Kong ($141 billion).

• Outward FDI from India - $15.5 billion in 2021.

1. DAVINCI Mission

Why in news - NASA to launch DAVINCI Mission to explore Venus’ atmosphere.

Key Points –

• DAVINCI - Deep Atmosphere Venus Investigation of Noble gases, Chemistry and Imaging Mission.

• It will fly near Venus in 2029. and reach the surface of Venus by June 2031.

• It will be the first mission to study Venus by means of both flybys and descent.

• Veritas is another NASA’s mission to Venus.

• ‘Shukrayaan’ is ISRO’s mission to Venus to be launched by December 2024.

About Sufism -

• In India, Sufi movement began in 1300 A.D.

• Al-Hujwari (Data Ganj Naksh) was first Sufi who settled in India.

1. Presidential Election

Why in news - In the presidential polls, the NDA candidate can get a lead of more than 30,000 votes from Bihar.

Key Points –

• Bihar has a total vote value of 81,687 in Rajya Sabha, Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha combined.

• The value of the vote of a Bihar’s MLA is 173. The house is of 243 members. (Total – 42,039 vote value).

• Top 3 parties (vote value) – BJP (28189), JDU (22653), RJD (17396).

2. Fish Production Bihar

Why in news – There is a record increase in the production of food items due to the implementation of the Agricultural Roadmap.

Key Points –

• Bihar has reached 4th place in the country in the production of fish. (2007-08 – 2,88,000 tonnes, 2020-21 - 7,62,000 tonnes in the year).

• Milk production has also doubled. (2007-08 – 57,07,000 tonnes, 2020-21 – 115,02,000 tonnes in the year.)

• Production of eggs – 30,132 lakh in 2020-21. (10,612 lakh in 2007-08).

• The target is to constitute 7000 new milk societies by the year 2024-25 to ensure the reach of milk societies to all villages.

3. Treatment of disease through gems

Why in news – Post Graduate Diploma in Medical Astrology (PGDMA) would be taught in Aryabhatta Knowledge University.

Key Points –

• Students would be taught the therapeutic effect of various gems including diamond, pearl, emerald and onyx.

4. Scraping Center

Why in news – Scraping centers to be opened for regular scrapping of 15 year old vehicles.

Key Points –

• Under the scrapping policy, the license has been given to open 4 scrapping centers in Patna and 14 in the state.

• 200 people would get direct employment in each unit.
