1. Dhamma Dipa International Buddhist University (DDIBU)

Why in news - The foundation stone for the International Buddhist University, the first in India, was laid in Tripura.

Key Points –

• Foundation was laid by Shakya Gasan, chief monk of the World Buddhist Pope Association of South Korea.

• Location - Manu Bankul in Sabroom of South Tripura district.

• It is being set up by the Bahujan Hitaya Education Trust (BHET).

2. True 5G Network

Why in news - Gujarat became the 1st state in India to get Jio True 5G coverage in 100% of the district headquarters.

Key Points –

• Alongside, Jio has also announced a True 5G-powered initiative named ‘Education-For-All’ in the state.

3. Yaanam

Why in news - Sanskrit documentary ‘Yaanam’ was portrayed at 53rd IFFI 2022.

Key Points –

• It is based on the autobiographical book “My Odyssey: Memoirs of the Man Behind the Mangalyaan Mission” by Dr K. Radhakrishnan.

• ‘Yaanam’ movie portrayed India’s dream project Mars Orbiter Mission (Mangalyaan).

• It is the first science documentary in the Sanskrit language in the history of world cinema.

1. “Nai Chetna” Campaign

Why in news - Nai Chetna gender campaign was launched under the leadership of Kudumbashree.

Key Points –

• It was launched by the Ministry of Rural Development.

• Aim - to enable women to acknowledge gender-based violence and prepare them to raise their voices against it.

• It was launched on the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against women on Nov 25, 2022.

ECONOMY:

1. Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC)

Why in news - The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) announced a trial for retail digital rupee (e ₹-R) beginning Dec 1, 2022.

Key Points –

• RBI has identified 8 banks for gradual participation.

• The 1st phase would begin with 4 banks: State Bank of India, ICICI Bank, Yes Bank and IDFC First Bank.

• The remaining 4 banks are Bank of Baroda, Union Bank of India, HDFC Bank and Kotak Mahindra Bank.

• Initially covered cities - Mumbai, New Delhi, Bengaluru and Bhubaneswar.

• Extension cities - Ahmedabad, Gangtok, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Indore, Kochi, Lucknow, Patna and Shimla.

REPORTS & INDICES:

1. Carbon Capture Report

Why in news - The report was recently released by NITI Aayog.

Key Points –

• Report title – “Carbon Capture, Utilisation and Storage (CCUS) Policy Framework and its Deployment Mechanism in India”.

• India’s updated NDC targets –

A. 50% of its total installed capacity from non-fossil-based energy sources

B. 45% reduction in emission intensity by 2030

C. Net Zero by 2070.

• CCUS estimates that about 750 mtpa of carbon capture by 2050 can create employment opportunities of about 8-10 million on full time equivalent (FTE).

AWARDS & HONOURS:

1. Award of Excellence

Why in news - Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya (CSMVS) was conferred with the ‘Award of Excellence’ by UNESCO.

Key Points –

• It was awarded at UNESCO Asia-Pacific Awards for Cultural Heritage Conservation-2022.

• Reason - “heroic” restoration of CSMVS in Mumbai.

• It was established as the Prince of Wales Museum of Western India in 1922.

2. ICFT-UNESCO Gandhi Medal

Why in news - Iranian film ‘Nargesi’ on the struggles of a person with Down’s Syndrome wins ICFT-UNESCO Gandhi Medal at 53rd IFFI.

• Director - Payam Eskandari.

• Since 1994, the ICFT UNESCO Gandhi Award is being given to a film that best reflects Mahatma Gandhi's ideals of peace, tolerance and non-violence.

3. National Awards to Master Craftspersons

Why in news - Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar conferred Shilp Guru and National Awards to master craftspersons for 2017, 2018, and 2019.

• Mohammad Yusuf Khatris was honoured with a gold medal and Tamra Patra.
