Why in news - Month-long Kashi Tamil Sangamam would be held in Varanasi from Nov 16 to Dec 19, 2022.

Key Points –

• Aim - to rediscover the links between the two ancient knowledge, culture and heritage centres.

• It was suggested by High Powered Committee for Promotion of Indian Languages, headed by Chamu Krishna Shastry.

• IIT-Madras and Banaras Hindu University are the knowledge partners.

Why in news - HDFC Securities announced the opening of the first-ever Women-Only Digital Centre (DC) in Bengaluru.

1. Pakistan taken off FATF

Why in news - The Financial Action Task Force (FATF) freed Pakistan from its “grey list”.

Key Points –

• The decision was taken by the FATF in its plenary session held in Paris on October 20-21.

• This development comes after more than four years (2018).

• FATF president - T Raja Kumar (Singapore).

1. Sakharov Prize 2022

Why in news - The European Parliament awarded its top human rights prize to the people of Ukraine.

Key Points –

• Other nominees included - Julian Assange (Wikileaks founder) and Truth Commission (Colombia).

• It is named after the late Soviet dissident Andrei Sakharov.

2. Theodor Herzl Medallion Honour

Why in news - The Zionist Organization of America (ZOA) announced to honuor Donald Trump with the award.

Key Points –

• Trump is honoured “for being the best friend Israel ever had in the White House.”

• Trump’s pro-Israel steps - Abraham Accords, relocating U.S. Embassy to Jerusalem, recognizing Israel’s sovereignty over the Golan Heights etc.

• He became the first U.S. president to pray at the Western Wall in Jerusalem.

Why in news - Hardeep Puri congratulated the winners of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Urban (PMAY-U) Awards 2021.

• Water sports are being included for the first time in the history of the games. E.g., Kayaking, Canoeing and Rowing.

2. FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023
