NATIONAL:

1. Tripartite Agreement with 8 Armed Tribal Groups

Why in news – The Centre and Assam government signed a tripartite agreement with 8 armed tribal groups in Assam.

Key Points –

• Aim - to bring them into the mainstream and give them political and economic rights.

• 8 groups - Birsa Commando Force (BCF), Adivasi People’s Army (APA), All Adivasi National Liberation Army (AANLA), Adivasi Cobra Military of Assam (ACMA) and Santhali Tiger Force (STF).

• In 2007, all these groups signed a ceasefire agreement with the Centre.

2. Lithium Cell Manufacturing Facility

Why in news – India’s first lithium cell manufacturing facility was launched on Sept 16, 2022.

Key Points –

• Location - Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh.

• Installed capacity - 270 Mwh and can produce 20,000 cells of 10Ah capacity daily.

• It can meet about 60% of India’s present requirements.

• It has been set up by the Chennai-based Munoth Industries Limited with an outlay of Rs. 165 crores.

• Currently, India imports lithium-ion cells from China, South Korea, Vietnam and Hong Kong.

GOVERNMENT SCHEMES:

1. “Awakening” Program

Why in news – Education minister Dharmendra Pradhan inaugurated Ramakrishna Mission’s “Awakening” program.

Key Points –

• Aim – to ensure holistic personality development of a child aligned with the philosophy of NEP 2020.

• Eligibility - for students of classes I to V.

2. Mission Amrit Sarovar

Why in news – Uttar Pradesh has topped in the country with the construction of 8,462 Amrit Sarovar (lakes).

Key Points –

• Top 5 – UP (8,462 lakes) > MP (1,668), J&K (1,458), Rajasthan (898) and Tamil Nadu (818).

• Within Uttar Pradesh, Top 3 - Lakhimpur Kheri (256 lakes), Gorakhpur (244) and Pratapgarh (231).

• In all, 1.20 lakh Amrit Sarovars will be developed in UP.

• Mission Amrit Sarovar aims to conserve water for the future.

ECONOMY:

1. FSDC Meeting

Why in news – The 26th meeting of the Financial Stability and Development Council (FSDC) was held on Sept 15, 2022.

Key Points –

• It was headed by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.

About FSDC –

• It is a non-statutory apex council under the Ministry of Finance.

• Raghuram Rajan Committee (2008) on financial sector reforms first proposed the creation of FSDC.

Composition –

A. Chairperson - Union Finance Minister of India.

B. Members – RBl Governor, Chairman of SEBI, IRDA, PFRDA and IBBI etc.

• FSDC sub-committee is chaired by the RBI Governor.

1. World Ozone Day 2022

Why in news – It is celebrated on Sept 16 on the anniversary of the signing of the Montreal Protocol (Sept 16, 1987).

Key Points –

• Theme 2022 - Global Cooperation to Protect Life on Earth.

• Ozone layer is a fragile shield of gas that protects the Earth from the harmful ultraviolet rays of the sun.

• Montreal Protocol calls for banning substances that cause depletion of the ozone layer.

• Ozone depleting substances - Propellants, foam-blowing agents, manufactured halocarbon refrigerants and solvents.

SPORTS:

1. Two World Championship Medals

Why in news – Vinesh Phogat became 1st Indian woman to win two World Championship medals.

Key Points –

• Vinesh Phogat won bronze at the World Wrestling Championship 2022 in the women's 53kg category.

• Her first medal came in the 2019 edition at Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan.

• She also became the first Indian woman to win a gold medal at both the Commonwealth and Asian Games.

2. South Asian Football Federation Championship (SAFF)

Why in news - In the SAFF U-17 Championship title, India beats Nepal 4-0 in the finals.

Key Points –

• It was held in Racecourse International Stadium, Colombo, Sri Lanka.

• 7th edition of the event held from Sept 5 to 14, 2022.

1. Public Holiday on Hari Singh’s Birthday

Why in news – J&K has decided to declare Maharaja Hari Singh’s birth anniversary a public holiday.

Key Points –

• The birth anniversary of Maharaja Hari Singh falls on Sept 23.

• On Oct 26, 1947, Maharaja Hari Singh signed off the Instrument of Accession through which J&K joined the Dominion of India.

2. Chief Minister’s Breakfast Scheme

Why in news – Tamil Nadu rolled out the statewide Chief Minister’s Breakfast Scheme.

Key Points –

• Eligibility - Government school students from classes 1 to 5.

• Budget - ₹33.56crore (Rs 12.75 per student).

BIHAR:

1. Rural Solar Light Scheme

Why in news – Hon CM Nitish Kumar launched the Rural Solar Light Scheme on Sept 15, 2022.

Key Points –

• Under Saat Nischay Part-II, 10 street lights are to be installed in every ward.

• 11,77,080 solar street lights would be installed in 1,09,647 wards of rural areas.

• 10 additional solar street lights will also be installed at public places in all 8061 panchayats of the state.

• Budget – Rs 2000 crores.

• Each unit would cost ₹30669.

• To be implemented by the Department of Energy and Panchayati Raj Department.

2. Mohan Rakesh Award

Why in news – Sahitya Kala Parishad Delhi has announced “Mohan Rakesh award” for the outstanding original Hindi drama.

Key Points –

• For 2021-22, Playwright Rajesh Kumar (1st) is to be honored with the first “Mohan Rakesh award for the play “Nishabd”.

• It would be awarded to three persons-

A. Rajesh Kumar (work - Nishabd)

B. Shriram Sharma Kapreen (work - Prem Se Dhanpati Nawab)

C. Dr. Pratibha Jain (work - Mahashraman Chandragupta Maurya).

• The play “Nishabd” is the story of a family battling the pandemic during the Corona period.
