Why in news - Varanasi District Court said that the suits seeking the right to worship inside the Gyanvapi mosque are maintainable.
Key Points –
• The suit is not barred by Section 4 of the Places of Worship (Special Provisions) Act, 1991.
• The Places of Worship Act bars conversion of the religious character of any place of worship as it existed on the 15th day of August, 1947.

1. North Korea as a Nuclear State
Why in news – North Korea has approved a law declaring itself to be a nuclear weapons state.
Key Points –
• President Kim Jong-Un referred to the move as "irreversible."

• Singapore Summit (2018) - Kim Jong-Un and Donald Trump agreed for denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.

1. National Health Estimates (2018-19)
Why in news – Findings of the National Health Accounts (NHA) estimates for India for 2018-19 was released.
Key Points –
• Share of government health expenditure in the total GDP of the country increased from 1.15% in 2013-14 to 1.28% in 2018-19.
• Share of Government Health Expenditure in Total Health Expenditure has increased from 28.6% in 2013-14 to 40.6% in 2018-19.
• Government’s health expenditure as a percentage of Current Health Expenditure has increased from 23.2% in 2013-14 to 34.5% in 2018-19.
• Per capita government spending on healthcare has increased by 74% since 2013-14, i.e., Rs. 1042 to Rs. 1815 in 2018-19.
ECONOMY:
1. Index of Industrial Production (IIP)
Why in news – IIP data was released by the National Statistical Office (NSO) (M/o Statistics and Programme Implementation) recently.
Key Points –
• Retail inflation rose to 7% in August, marking the 8th consecutive month above the upper threshold of the RBI’s target of 4 +/- 2%.
• IIP moderated to a four-month low of 2.4% in July 2022.
• Among states, the highest inflation rate in August was recorded by West Bengal (8.94%), Gujarat (8.22%) and Telangana (8.11%).
