1. Indian Navy’s New Ensign (Flag)

Why in news - PM Modi unveiled the Indian Navy’s new Ensign (Flag) at the commissioning of INS Vikrant in Kochi.

Key Points –

• It bears the seal of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.

• It has the national flag on the upper canton (top left corner), and a blue octagon encompassing the National Emblem sitting atop an anchor.

• The octagon has been inspired by the Raja Mudra — seal — of the Maratha emperor Shivaji.

• Kanhoji Angre (1669-1729) was a celebrated Maratha naval commander.

• Gurab, tarande, galbat, shibad and pal were battleships and other vessels of varying shapes during the Maratha empire.

2. State Capital Region

Why in news - Uttar Pradesh to get State Capital Region on lines of NCR.

Key Points –

• It would comprise Lucknow and areas of nearby districts.

• Ayodhya to be developed as a “solar city” to give the message of “energy conservation” to the world.

1. Exercise “Synergy”

Why in news - Computer Emergency Response Team - India (CERT-In) successfully conducted the Cyber Security Exercise “Synergy” for 13 Countries.

Key Points –

• It is a part of the International Counter Ransomware Initiative (ICRI).

• ICRI is being led by India under the leadership of National Security Council Secretariat (NSCS).

• It was conducted in collaboration with Cyber Security Agency of Singapore (CSA).

• CERT-In: It is an organisation under MeiTY with the objective of securing Indian cyberspace.

2. Tejas Mark-2 Project

Why in news - Cabinet Committee on Security approved Tejas 2.0 mega project.

Key Points –

• It would replace Mirage 2000, Jaguar and MiG-29 combat aircraft in the IAF.

• Development of new aircraft is to be completed by 2027.

• CCS has sanctioned 6,500 crore rupees for designing and developing of Tejas Mark-2 fighter jet.

• Tejas is a single-engined, lightweight, highly agile, multi-role supersonic fighter developed by HAL.

3. CAPF E-Awas Portal

Why in news - Home Minister Amit Shah launched the Central Armed Police Forces' eAwas web-portal in New Delhi.

Why in news - Minister of State for AYUSH, Dr Munjpara Mahendrabhai Kalubhai has released the book.
